Going back to the very beginning of the semester, I remembered that I had to take Com1010 as a requirement. Either all the options with the good rating teachers were taken or it did not fit into my schedule. I was iffy with choosing a class that was marked “staff”. I didn’t want to take a professor who was going to be harsh on us and criticize us on our speeches, so if I were to say, taking a class without a professor was nervewracking. However, when Kyueun walked in and introduced herself to us, in my mind, I knew it was going to be a good and easy-going class. I’ve always thought of myself as an okay speaker. I’ve taught myself to be more confident when speaking in front of others, but what this class taught me was that truth isn’t revealed until action is performed. When I gave my first speech, I wasn’t nervous in the sense of telling people who I was, but I was nervous in the sense of judgment. I was afraid that the strangers in my class were going to judge me for who I was or what I did. Speech communication also taught me how to outline a speech. I never knew that an outline was such an important factor in public speaking, but it made me realized that an outline is crucial and is the basis for a great speech. As we get further into the semester, the once strangers in my class became my classmates. We shared stories about ourselves that we thought we would never share. We became one. WIth each speech that goes on, each and every one of us became more confident in presenting our speech. What one once might think that they were a good speaker, realized their flaws and weakness when presenting in front of a class. Our true colors revealed and we knew what we needed to fix in order to get better. Not only can we take from our self-criticism, we took from our classmates and Kuyeun. By gathering all of them together, we were able to become a better public speaker. Sharing our thoughts and personal stories made us closer. We became comfortable enough to be able to let others know about our struggles, our secrets, and our ideas. It came to a point where we no longer were afraid of each others’ judgments because we knew it was a judgment-free zone. We knew it wasn’t judgments but constructive criticism. We knew that it would build us up and not knock us down. So, Com1010 taught me a lot, more than I have expected. It taught me to become a better speaker, as this was what this course is all about. It made me more confident in myself. It taught me about my classmates’ personal stories and opinions. It taught me how to outline a speech and why it is crucial. And, it taught me to be proud of myself. But, all of this wouldn’t be where it is now without Kuyeun. Kuyeun made the class inviting and friendly. She becomes one of us, and that is where we, students, excel. We did not feel the pressure of presenting. She was one of us and I want to speak on my classmates’ behalf and myself, we very much appreciate her and what she has done. Thank you, you made this class memorable and exciting. It is not one to forget.

Persuasive Speech Outline
Clinton slams Trump on LGBT rights
The LGBTQ topic has been a big issue as of lately, and more when Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton were running for president. Throughout the speech, former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton warned the audience that President Trump’s administration could roll back progress on LGBTQ rights. Hillary’s speech was well-rounded. She took pauses every time she gets her point across as to not string everything together. The way she spoke was clear and confident. She had a good body posture and uses her hand quite often to emphasize her point more. In between her speech, she uses a few jokes to lighten up the room and have the audience laughing, this, in turn, engages the audience more. Her point was towards Donald Trump, but she never uses his name, however, she makes strong points for the audience to understand who she is talking about. She makes great eye contact with the audience, looking at each end of the room to make sure she grabs their attention. Hillary Clinton’s delivery of the speech was motivation. She spoke about an uncomfortable topic, a topic not many would like to hear or the people of the topic, but she spoke with so much confidence, it felt as if she had persuaded the whole room. I can learn from her as I am too speaking about the LGBTQ topic and how I can persuade my audience that the LGBTQ rights should be accepted.
